A striking 17th Century manor house situated on a historic 450-acre estate close to the stunning North East coastline in the border country of Northumberland, The Lost Hall is an idyllic setting for fairytale weddings and opulent house parties. Enjoy a peaceful break in the folds of luxury and experience friendly, bespoke service in a dramatic location that is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay.
Inside
- Style: Contemporary style meets an historic ambience. With its period architecture and antique furnishings, the house exudes an ambience of decadence appropriate to its era, whilst being subtly decked out with all the modern luxuries expected by the most discerning of guests.
- Bedrooms and Bathrooms: Seven huge doubles (3 of which can be twins), finished to the highest standards with plump, comfy beds, garden views and lavish en suite bathrooms housing deep sunken baths, large showerheads and Penhaligon luxury toiletries.There are two cottages - sleeping 6 and 4 adjacent to the main house, available in addition to the main house. Please enquire for rates.
- For relaxation: Finish the day with a malt whisky in front of the open fire and ensconce yourself amongst luxurious comforts in the stunning library, drawing room or ballroom.
- For recreation: Play tennis or croquet in the gardens, or enjoy a tour of the house, woodland, fernery and beautiful walled garden. Fishing and shooting are also available on the estate.
- Practicalities: Hairdryers and bathrobes can be found in each bedroom.
Outside
This 500-acre estate, fringed by rolling lawns and ancient woodland, includes an area of beautifully landscaped gardens with a tennis court, croquet lawn, fernery, walled garden and manicured lawns.
Food and wine
- DIY: The property is not available on a self-catered basis.
- In-house cuisine: All meals make use of fresh produce grown on the estate (in the fully productive walled garden) and sourced from local suppliers. Breakfast is included and gourmet dinners and lunches can be provided by arrangement (from £33 per head 3 course meal, £20 per head supper.). There are no set menus – the in-house chefs will create a dinner menu bespoke to your tastes, requirements and budget. Dependant on the numbers in your group, dine in the unique panelled dining room (seating up to 14 guests) or the ballroom (seating anything up to 120) used for larger dinner parties and wedding parties.
- Eating out: If you prefer to dine out on occasion, your hosts can recommend a selection of restaurants on the doorstep; from The Tree House at Alnwick Gardens, to the Cook & Barker Pub.
- Corkage: Is charged for guests looking to BYO. This is negotiable and to be discussed direct with the owners at point of booking.

- By car: London is around 4 ½ hrs, Edinburgh is 1 ½ hrs by car. Newcastle is around 30 mins from the house.
- By train: The Lost Hall is three hrs from London, an hour from Edinburgh by train. Newcastle Central station is just half-an-hour away.
